What a good week.

This was a really nice week, no super big things to mention, but a lot of small things that made me pretty happy. Bret made a great pot roast for dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. He picked up a cake for me to take to work, since I told him how badly I needed cake since seeing that post about wedding cake. We had about 6 inches of snow while I was at work, the ride home was slow and slippery. Someone told me it was -17 out that morning. As I made my way around the corner to pull into the driveway, I saw Bret out clearing the driveway, sidewalk, and even the street with the snowblower so that I could get into the driveway. I have to mention that this was 730 in the morning on a day he didn't need to be up that early. I was so happy to see him, and really thankful that we traded my old Camaro in for an SUV with all wheel drive. I never would have made it home in a camaro. I am relaxing now and enjoying a few days off with my sweetie.

Great, now I'm hungry.

Not a really exciting week here. I just won a tshirt online, so that was a bit fun. I woke up too early and am going to be regretting that later tonight at work. I just checked facebook to try to hook up a coworker with one of Bret's friends, they might hit it off, who knows? Another coworker is getting married and is in the process of wedding planning. That was fun, I am excited for her. She posted today about a pink champagne cake with strawberry creme filling and butter cream icing. That sounds amazing, I want one. Now I'm hungry for cake!

Where is the mailman???

Not much excitement here today. Just got back from the grocery store with hubby. Yay for double coupon days at Hy Vee. Picked up a free coffee from Scooters. Snickers candybar latte with whipped cream.... Yum! Bret is attempting rabbit stew for dinner. The mail man has not shown up yet, so nothing good in the box yet.

Long overdue post

Well, I'll try this again. I sort of lost interest in posting because I didn't have much to talk about, but I think maybe little things are ok to talk about in a daily blog. So here's to appreciating little things.
There's no mail today. This is really dissapointing, because the mailbox is usually a treat for me. I get a lot of free stuff in the mail, so it feels like a little celebration every time I open the box. Don't worry, I still get bills and icky things like that. So, no mail today, just hanging out doing laundry with the hubby. This is something to be appreciated as well. Things are going very well this week. Bret made me breakfast and is helping me with laundry. Oh and the cats are helping with laundry as well, there is nothing better than running through a pile of laundry fresh from the dryer. Its a good start to the day.
I recieved some good books from freecycle yesterday, and am hoping to sit back and read them soon. Maybe I will remember to post something here tommorrow. I just read a friend's blog and just really impressed that she can remember to post every day. I will try to do that as well.

So maybe blogging is going to bring me good karma. The day after my first post, I found out that I won a $500 airfare voucher to go see my BFF back in Jersey. So excited, I was doing a happy dance all over the house. Then, it got even better, my BFF called me a while later to tell me she won the same prize. Holy Cow! If it weren't for the limitations on this prize we would be heading to a spa weekend somewhere, but we have to travel by Dec 23rd. With the holidays coming up and money being set aside for presents and parties to attend, its just too crazy. Instead we're going to spend some time at each other's houses and explore the areas together. I am super excited to show her around Omaha, and cant wait to get back home and maybe a trip to Atlantic city for a mini spa getaway and of course a little gambling. I am going to keep posting here and maybe it will keep the luck flowing in the right direction!

A Bit about Me

I am born and raised Jersey Girl, currently displaced in a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska. I have been here for about a year and a half. There is actually alot to do here, but I sure do miss my good friends back on the east coast. I've been reading other people's blogs for a while now and thought maybe I would try starting my own. The pay in the midwest is a lot less than back home, so I've become really interested in gatting things at little or no cost. I'm getting sort of good at it. I've also been entering a lot of contests, sometimes my luck is better than other times. It's always fun to go to the mailbox and have an unexpected suprise waiting there for me. Yes, this is how I am keeping myself entertained, and since the weather is going to start getting cold and snowy soon, I figured this is a great time to start blogging.
